Ever since I was pregnant, I began chatting more with my mum, asking her questions about our childhood and her parenting techniques. Recently she came over to see Nat and out of my frustration I asked her how she coped with all our crying when we were babies. Then she started to give some advice which added to my frustration.
Surprisingly though when I sort of 'challenged' her with my methods, we didn't start arguing like we always do in the past. And she actually said something like, "when I became a mum I also didn't really know what to do, it's all trial and error. Many people have many different ideas and methods, at the end of the day, just follow your instincts". Another close friend of ours also said the same something similar, "follow your heart".
But I was really encouraged and inspired by my mum, despite all our differences. After all, she raised 3 kids. Thanks mum.
