I love the IKEA IVAR shelves. I've had one for close to 15 years now and it is still going strong. I also like the idea that you can customise the combinations and it's easy to paint and varnish, i.e. amateur painting that look professional. Then I saw this IKEA hack on an IKEA magazine, I was waiting for the right cloth to come along.
My best buddy gave me a cloth table place mat from Japan and I converted it to this. It matches the shelf easily :) So if you've a bunch of dish cloths or table place mats hanging around, please don't throw them away, simply just sew around the edges and you've a nice pouch for a shelf. Even if you don't want to put it on a shelf, it can just be a nice pouch. I made mine with draw strings so that I can convert them into pouches when I don't want them on the shelf anymore.
