"My Beloved is mine and I am His..." I've always been singing this song in church but it never really sunk into me. Perhaps if the song became "My Beloved is mine and I am His beloved", I would have caught onto it more but then the song will obviously sound weird. There were many times in my life when I thought to myself, "Did God really love me? Perhaps I'm the one He didn't love that much."
In the book of John, John was described as, "the disciple whom Jesus loved" (John 13:2). John was describing himself when he wrote that. Initially I thought, "He's kind of thick skinned to write that about himself." Then I realised it was sincerely written. He truly wrapped himself up in Jesus' love for him, he was His beloved. How could we ever truly love someone if we didn't think that someone loved us back? Jesus is pleased when we embraced His love for us. If my son went to tell his friends that his mommy loves him a lot, I would be extremely happy!
Jesus said, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life". For God so loved the world - He loved us so much He gave us a gift that never stops giving. And that is God's Christmas gift to us - His Love. Let us embrace His love this Christmas, let us embrace Jesus. Be inspired to love Him and be inspired to be loved by Him.
May you be highly favoured, abundantly blessed and deeply loved this Christmas! Blessed Christmas!
